Apple Inc. (AAPL) Hires Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts As Retail Head

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has hired a new retail head, Angela Ahrendts.  Ahrendts is currently the CEO of Burberry.  Ahrendts will be the SVP of retail and online stores.  This is a newly created position at Apple.  Ahrendts will be responsible for the strategic direction, expansion, and operation of Apple’s retail and online stores.

Ahrendts will be joining Apple this spring from Burberry.  Prior to working as CEO of Burberry, she was the executive vice president at Liz Claiborne.  She also served as the president of Donna Karan International.

Ahrendts joined Burberry in 2006 and became CEO on July 1, 2006.  During 2012, Ahrendts was the highest paid CEO in the U.K. at $26.3 million.
