Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has acquired Quebec, Canada based mapping company Poly9. A majority of Poly9’s employees have been relocated to Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California.

Poly9 Globe is a 3D globe platform that does not require any download. Think of it as being similar to Google Earth. The total application’s size is 303 kilobytes.

Poly9 has worked with several clients including Microsoft, Yahoo!, MSNBC, NORAD, and Apple before the acquisition. Last year Apple bought out another mapping company called Placebase.
