Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has acquired Embark. Embark is the developer behind a popular public transit app. Apple confirmed the deal. The terms of the deal was undisclosed.
Founded in 2011, Embark builds apps for mobile devices that are powered by Android and Apple iOS. Embark provides information the transit systems in around half a dozen U.S. cities, including New York, San Francisco, and Chicago. Embark’s iOS apps can still be downloaded, but the Android apps are no longer available.
Some of Embark’s investors include Y Combinator, SV Angel, and BMW Group. This past year, Apple also acquired other Transit companies like Locationary and HopStop.
