Apple Fires The Apple Maps Head Richard Williamson

Posted Nov 27, 2012

Many consumers were upset about the performance of Apple Maps when iOS 6 was released.  As a result, Apple Senior Vice President Eddy Cue has fired Richard Williamson according to Bloomberg.

Mr. Williamson oversaw the mapping team.  Eddy Cue took on additional responsibility for Siri and Apple Maps after Scott Forstall was forced out of the company in late October.

Apple is now seeking advice from outside mapping-technology experts and is asking TomTom NV to fix landmark and navigation data.
