Apple Gives Certain Developers Access To iOS 5.0.1 To Test New Software Against Battery Life Issues and Siri

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has given developers early access to iOS 5.0.1 to test new applications against the battery life issues that iPhone iOS 5 users have been reporting. The early users will also be able to test their applications against Siri.

A small number of customers that have complained about battery life issues for iOS 5 have been seeded a bug fix released through the AppleSeed program. Once they upgrade their devices to iOS 5.0, they will not be allowed to downgrade. The iOS 5.0.1 update has Siri improvements for Australian users, multitasking gestures for the first gen iPad, and several other bug fixes.

Apple Stores have also received memos on how to deal with battery life issues. Employees are expected to tell customers that they will not replace phones that have battery life issues, but instead tell them to wait until a software update.
