Apple Revamps iLife and iWork, Makes Them Free With Purchase Of New Devices

Posted Oct 22, 2013

Apple announced new versions of iLife and iWork apps.  All of the apps have been made free with purchase of new devices, iOS or Mac.  The revamped iLife apps include GarageBand, iPhoto, and iMovie.  The revamped iWork apps are Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.

The apps now all have iCloud integration.  This allows you to share documents and files across all devices and all apps.  Apple also revamped the user interfaces for all of the apps.

The Pages app (above) has real-time editing features so that users can edit documents at the same time.  The real-time editing works with users that have a PC too.

GarageBand (above) has built-in robot drummers known as Kyle and Gavin.  It now has 32-track recording whereas most other pro studio software has only 24.  GarageBand is now a free app, but it will have a cost for additional instruments.
