Miracles can happen. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and the Motorola Mobility unit of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has decided to drop lawsuits against each other and work on patent reform as part of an alliance. The settlement does not include a cross license of their respective patents.

“Apple and Google have also agreed to work together in some areas of patent reform,” said the companies in a statement said. A federal appeals court in Washington was told by Apple and Google to dismiss all of the cases.

This settlement does not end Apple’s disputes with Samsung Electronics though. There wasn’t any settlement notices between Samsung and Apple.

Two weeks ago, a verdict was decided in the case between Apple and Samsung. An eight-person jury in the patent trial between Samsung and Apple ruled that Samsung infringed on at least one of Apple’s patents and will have to pay around $119.6 million. Apple wanted $2 billion though.
