Apple Inc. (AAPL): CarPlay has signed up 9 more car companies

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has signed up 9 more manufacturers for CarPlay, which include Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Audi, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Mazda and Ram. CarPlay lets users that already own a smartphone bring that same experience into an infotainment system.


This makes the the experience of driving and using the Internet safer. Some of the manufacturers that have committed to CarPlay are also supporting Google’s new Android Auto service, including Chrysler, Audi, and Alfa Romeo.

CarPlay uses Siri to let drivers make calls, listen to voicemails, and hear alerts. Integration with Appel Maps allows turn-by-turn directions to show up in the infotainment system. The audio system supports iTunes Radio and podcasts.
