Apple Inc. (AAPL) has announced a new, entry-level iMac

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has announced a new affordable iMac, which starts at $1,099. The new 21.5-inch iMac has a 1.4GHz dual-core Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost up to 2.7GHz. The iMac also has 8GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, and an integrated Intel HD Graphics 5000 chip.

The new iMac has 4 USB 3.0 ports, two Thunderbolt ports, and 802.11ac wireless networking. There are a few storage build-to-order options available like a 1TB hard drive for $50, a 1TB Fusion Drive for $250, and 256GB of flash storage for $250.

This model is cheaper than the previous 2.7GHz version, which retailed for $1,299. The new entry-level iMac is available today through Apple retail stores and the Apple online store.
