Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has decided not to invest in Intellectual Ventures’ latest round of funding. However, Sony and Microsoft participated this round though. Intel and Apple both invested in Intellectual Ventures properly.

Intellectual Ventures is known for using its patent arsenal to sue other companies. Intellectual Ventures sued Motorola Mobility in October 2011. It also sued AT&T, CenturyLink, and Windstream in February 2013.

Intellectual Ventures launched in 2000 and raised $6 billion. The company acquired 70,000 patents and other I.P. assets. Intellectual Ventures is looking to raise $3 billion more. Microsoft, Sony, Apple, and Intel invested in Intellectual Ventures’ previous funds.
