Apple’s iPhone 5c has not favored well with consumers because of its higher-than-expected price when entering the market. Consumers seem to prefer to want to spend more for the iPhone 5s or switch to an Android device. Now Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is currently sitting on 3 million unsold iPhone 5c devices, according to sources with DigiTimes.
There is reportedly 2 million of them sitting in Apple factories and the other 1 million are distributed to carriers that are trying to get them off their shelves.
When Apple announced their Q1 2014 results in late January, the company reported that 51 million iPhones were sold compared to 47.8 million iPhones in the same quarter of 2013. Analysts were expecting Apple to have sold around 55 million iPhones.
