Apple Inc. (AAPL) Sells 9 Million New iPhones In 3 Days

Posted Sep 23, 2013

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has hit a new record!  The company has sold 9 million total iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c devices over the weekend.  This beats Apple’s previous 5 million record for the iPhone 5 launch last year.  In a press release, Apple did not separate the count for the individual models, but we know the iPhone 5s is sold out.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) also reported that 200 million devices are running on iOS 7 already.  This is the fastest software upgrade in history.

“This is our best iPhone launch yet–more than nine million new iPhones sold–a new record for first weekend sales,” stated Apple CEO Tim Cook. “The demand for the new iPhones has been incredible, and while we’ve sold out of our initial supply of iPhone 5s, stores continue to receive new iPhone shipments regularly. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough new iPhones for everyone.”
