Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has plans to spend billions of dollars to automate many of their tasks in their production line. According to a 10-K filing, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has set up an $11 billion fund for 2014 to automate many of the tasks. Out of the $11 billion, around $10.5 billion will go towards the product tooling, corporate infrastructure, and manufacturing equipment.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will procure hardware, software, and other enhancements. These tools would go towards the mass production of iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks, according to Bloomberg. This includes machines that could polish the plastic finish on the iPhone 5c, cave the MacBook aluminum body, and test the camera lens on the iPhone and iPad.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will be setting up these automated machines at the factories of their manufacturing partners. Many of these partners are based in Asia.
