This past week at WWDC, Apple said that a new feature has been added to Safari that will let you scan a credit card using the on-board camera. Rather than typing in the information manually, an option will pop up that says “Scan Credit Card.”
The credit card image snapped by the camera is converted into text using built-in optical character recognition. If the OCR conversion is accurate, this process could save some time.
Unfortunately, Apple has yet to add support for near-field communications (NFC), which is software that allows for payments through your mobile device. Apple does have an app called Passbook, but not much has done to advance the service.
