Today Apple announced the iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 is the thinnest and lightest iPhone ever. The screen is 4-inch and it has a Retina Display. The device has a super-fast A6 chip, wireless connection, and has a stronger battery life. The iPhone 5 will come shipped with iOS 6, which has over 200 new features from the last iOS version including the new Maps app with turn-by-turn directions and Passbook organization.
The iPhone 5 has a 7.6mm anodized aluminum body that is around 18% thinner and 20% lighter than the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 5 has an anodized aluminum body with diamond cut chamfered edges.
After Apple made the screen taller on the iPhone 5 instead of wider, it made it easier to use with one hand so you can tap, type, and scroll the same way that you always do. You can also see a full five days of your Calendar.
The iPhone 5 supports LTE and DC-HSDPA so that you can browse and download content super-fast. Apple pioneered a unique single-radio LTE solution for fast speeds. The iPhone 5 has dual-band 802.11n WiFi support so that you can enjoy speeds that are up to 150Mbps.
The A6 chip was designed by Apple and it has twice the CPU and graphics performance. That means that loading websites, launching apps, and downloading e-mail is easier.
The iSight camera on the phone is 8-megapixel and is 25% smaller than the camera in the iPhone 4S. The new iSight camera in the iPhone 5 has a sapphire crystal lens cover which is thinner and more durable than the standard glass. There is a new panorama feature that lets you create panorama images of up to 28 megapixels by moving the camera across a scene in one smooth motion. Taking video has improved stabilization and video face detection for up to 10 faces. You also have the ability to take photos as you record.
FaceTime has been improved and is known as FaceTime HD. The calls are incredible clear and can be used for self portraits and recording 720p HD video.
The iPhone 5 has a Lightning connector that is smaller and smarter than the previous connector. The all-digital Lightning connector has an adaptive interface which uses only the signals that each accessory requires. It is also reversible so you can instantly connect to your accessories. The Lightning-to-30-pin Adapter converter is also available to connect iPhone 5 to legacy 30-pin accessories.
The iPhone 5 has new enhanced audio features such as a beam-forming and directional microphone system for higher quality sound. Background noise fades away using a new new noise canceling technology.
The iPhone 5 supports cellular wideband audio for crisper word clarity and more natural sounding speech. The Wideband audio is going to be supported by over 20 carriers worldwide at launch.
You will notice in the photo that the iPhone 5 comes with the new Apple EarPods. The design of the EarPods are considered “a more natural fit” and has “increased durability.” They also have an acoustic quality that is used on higher-end earphones.
