Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) reportedly has a group of engineers working on a smart-watch product, which has been dubbed “iWatch” by the media. This product would compete head-on with the Samsung Galaxy Gear smart-watch. However, there is a report that the iWatch will not simply be a device that complements a smartphone.
The iWatch will reportedly be able to control your music, the temperature in your home, serve as a security device, control your lighting, manage your energy, and much more. This information is based on information collected by Brian White of Cantor Fitzgerald. White spoke directly to Taiwanese and mainland suppliers in China.
?As an Apple supplier, our contact offered insight into the ‘iWatch’ and described this potential new device as much more than an extension of your iPhone but as a multi-purpose gateway in allowing consumers to control their home (i.e., heating/cooling, lights, audio, video, etc.),? stated White in his research as quoted by VentureBeat.
