Apple received a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the mini-SIM card connector. This technology works on a SIM card mini-SIM card, or a micro-SIM card. This connector allows for the easy insertion and removal of the SIM card. This technology is resistant to any damage caused by the incorrect insertion of the card. This patent covers the “reliable mechanical performance” of the connector.
This patent was filed by Apple in Q3 2010. It was credited to Zheng Gao, Benjamin Rappoport, and Steve McClure. The primary goal of the patent was to launch a connector that could not get damaged if it was incorrectly inserted.
