Apple Passbook is an application in iOS that lets you store coupons, boarding passes, store cards, event tickets, and other forms of mobile payment. Back in September 2012, four teams started supporting MLB Passbook. Now 14 more MLB teams will be supporting Passbook this year according to GigaOM. The MLB was among some of the first partners to join Apple Passbook when it was announced last year at WWDC.
The 14 more MLB teams that will support Passbook this year include the Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Brewers, Oakland Athletics, Pittsburgh Pirates, Detroit Tigers, and the Chicago Cubs. The San Francisco Giants, New York Mets, Kansas City Royals, and the Boston Red Sox.
Around three more teams will announce support for Passbook later this year. This makes it a total of 14 teams supporting Passbook for 2013.
The MLB recently re-launched their At Bat app for iOS and Android for the 2013 season. The app has cross-platform support, sortable statistics, and footage from past games. The app also lets you live-stream games through video and radio. The application is a free download, but subscriptions will cost $20 for the season. If you do not want the full season, there is a $3 per month option.
