Governor Beverly Perdue made an announcement today that Apple has Inc. has selected the state of North Carolina to be the home of a new data center. Apple plans to invest about $1 billion over the course of the next 9 years in this data center.
This morning in Raleigh, Perdue also signed Senata Bill 575, a modified way for businesses to calculate income tax liabilities. Apple plans to employ at least 50 people at the facility. This type of facility would lead to the creation of approximately 250 jobs based on third party maintenance requirements.
Apple is currently sitting on about $29 billion in cash and the company is establishing more of a presence on the Internet, hence the need for a massive data center.
