Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that an Apple Store will be opening in Istanbul. He confirmed the opening during a meeting with Turkey President Abdullah Gul. This Apple store is expected to be “unique” with features that have not been seen in other Apple stores.
The Istanbul-based Apple store is expected to open in April. Cook visited Turkey with other company executives and the talks during the trip included Turkey’s 10 million iPad order for their educational system.
It is rumored that the launch of a store in Turkey would be a requirement for the iPad purchase deal along with Turkish keyboards and other language-centric offerings. The retail store makes sense because teachers and students would need a place to go if their iOS devices had a technical issue.
The Istanbul Apple store is already being built and the construction is believed to be happening at the Zorlu Center. It will have Apple’s signature rectangular glass entrance. The store is believed to extend two levels underground.
