Apple Surpasses RIM With 26% Share In U.S. Smartphone Market

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has taken a 26% share in the U.S. smartphone market this quarter. Nokia is still the leading vendor across the globe with a 33% smart phone market share. But Apple is catching up with a 17% share worldwide. RIM has a 15% share worldwide. In terms of smartphone operating systems, the Open Handset Alliance (OHA) had a 44% share. OHA is the foundation behind the Android operating system These numbers were crunched by Canalys.
