Apple To Start Producing A New iPhone This Quarter

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Apple is planning to start production of a new generation iPhone that has a similar look and feel as the current iPhone 5.  The WSJ cites sources that are familiar with the device’s production and it is expected that the device will launch this summer.  Most likely the new device will be called the iPhone 5S.

Apple is going to work with their manufacturing partners in Asia.  The WSJ also said that manufacturing partners are working on a less expensive iPhone that would be launched in the second half of the year.  The smaller four-inch device will have a different casing and will likely have different color shells.  In the past, Apple has been able to control large prices for the iPhone, but the company is seeing major competition from cheaper products.

The rumored iPhone 5S will likely have an upgraded processor and other components like a camera with higher megapixels.  Two competing devices includes the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4.
