Archive.org To Seed 1 Million Torrents

Posted Aug 8, 2012

The Internet Archive (Archive.org) is now going to host over 1 million torrents of books, movies, TV show episodes, and music albums for free to download.  The torrents will be seeded by two Archive.org services so the downloads speeds will be fast even if the file is not popular.  Some of the albums that Archive.org will host include live concert recordings from artists like John Mayer, Cracker, Cowboy Junkie, Local H, Matt Nathanson, Matisyahu, Blues Traveler, Death Cab For Cutie, The Smashing Pumpkins, and the Grateful Dead.  The initiative was started as part of a partnership with BitTorrent.
