ARM Holdings plc (LON:ARM) has acquired graphics company Geomerics. Geomerics is a gaming graphics technology company that is known for developing an illumination engine called Enlighten. Enlighten is used for creating photo-realistic lighting technology for high-end games like Need for Speed: The Run and Battlefield 4, according to Engadget.
“The innovative technologies being developed by Geomerics are already revolutionizing the console gaming experience and are set to rapidly accelerate the transition to photo realistic graphics in mobile,” stated Pete Hutton, EVP and GM Media Processing Division, ARM. “Empowering Geomerics’ portfolio with ARM’s graphics capabilities and market reach will be transformative for the user experiences in future mobile and entertainment devices.”
ARM is known for designing technology that is used in digital products used in wireless, networking, and consumer entertainment products. The company’s products include RISC microprocessors, graphics processors, video engines, embedded memories, cell libraries, and high-speed connectivity products.
