AT&T Notifies Customers About Class-Action Settlement

Posted Nov 13, 2010

The Mobility division at AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) sent out a notification to subscribers on Thursday that they might be entitled to benefits from a class-action lawsuit. The class action lawsuit was because of improper charging of Internet taxes.

AT&T subscribers sued the company earlier this year saying that the Internet taxes bill was in violation of the federal Internet Tax Freedom Act. A settlement was made at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

The deal is still pending approval by the court. AT&T will stop charging the Internet taxes if the court approves the settlement.
