T-Mobile and Audi have announced an in-vehicle plan that will enable WiFi Internet access inside of cars. The Audi Connect allows Audi drivers to get access to news, weather, fuel prices, Google Voice, etc. over WiFi for $15 per month with a 30-month contract or $30 month-to-month contract.
“The T-Mobile-powered Audi connect service delivers unmatched connectivity to our customers at a rate that will turn their Audi into the ultimate mobile device,” said Audi of America senior manager of connected vehicle, Anupam Malhotra. “This plan will help move us toward the goal of one million connected Audi vehicles on the road worldwide by 2015.”
Audi is not the only company that plans to offers Internet access inside of their vehicles. General Motors has a deal in place with AT&T that will have Long Term Evolution (LTE) access inside of their vehicles starting in 2014 at a cost of $299 per year. There is also an option to use Ford Sync to use a smartphone for a data connection.
