Earlier this month we wrote about how Dropbox acquired Audiogalaxy. Audiogalaxy said that they would not be accepting any new users because they are shutting down on January 31, 2013. When Audiogalaxy first started out, they were a very popular MP3 search engine for peers to share files with each other. After receiving legal threats from the music industry, the company removed all of the files that were infringing copyright. Audiogalaxy ended up turning into a service where users could stream songs from their computer to a mobile device through an app. My guess is that Dropbox will use Audiogalaxy’s technology to create a streaming music service of their own.
