AVG To Buy Level Platforms

AVG is a popular mobile and web security company that is acquiring Level Platforms.  AVG is buying LPI as part of a goal to add remote monitoring and mobile management to their services.  The terms of the deal was undisclosed.

AVG has acquired a few companies in the last few years.  They acquired web privacy company PrivacyChoice a few weeks ago and TuneUp in August 2011.  Ottawa, Canada based Level Platforms can deliver a powerful remote monitoring platform through the cloud with accessibility inside of a browser.

AVG was interested in acquiring Level Platforms because it has an 80% retention rate each year with customers.

Level Platforms is pretty well known in North America, but AVG has plans to give the company a global reach.  AVG is going to integrate Level Platforms across all of their platforms.

Level Platforms has over 100 employees at their Ottawa office and they will keep that office open.  Level Platforms will become AVG’s Canada office.  AVG is based in Amsterdam.

According to VentureBeat, the acquisition is expected to close at the end of this month.
