Ayasdi Raises $30.6 Million From IVP, GE, and Citi Ventures

Ayasdi is a data analytics company that has raised $30.6 million in Series B funding from Institutional Venture Partners (IVP), GE Ventures, and Citi Ventures.  Coming out of beta mode six months ago, Ayasdi was founded in 2008 after a decade of research at Stanford University.  Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the National Science Foundation supported the research at Stanford.  The company has around 50 employees and is expected to double in the next year.

“Our system automatically discovers insights from data,” stated Ayasdi CEO Gurjeet Singh. “We massively increase the number of data scientists to any organization by empowering anyone to become a data scientist.”

Some of Ayasdi’s clients includes Citigroup, General Electric, Merck, the University of California San Francisco, Mount Sinai Hospital, MIT Media Lab, Texas A&M University and Harvard Medical School.  Ayasdi is ale partnered with Cloudera and Pivotal.

Previous investors Khosla Ventures and Floodgate also participated in this round.  Steve Harrick of IVP will join the Ayasdi board of directors.
