On Christmas Day, a hacker in Russia was able to break into BBC’s servers. The hacker even attempted to sell access to the servers on a black market website. Hold Security learned about the vulnerability and informed the BBC about it. Fortunately, no sensitive information was taken from BBC servers. The hacker was not able to access user accounts or credit card information. The compromised server was a file-transfer server that hosts advertiser assets. If this server was vulnerable, other hackers would be able to access other servers though.
