BBM gets updated to support Dropbox, voice calls, channels, and location-sharing

The BBM app for iOS and Android has been updated with several features. BBM Voice lets users make direct voice calls to BBM contacts through WiFi or cellular networks. BBM Channels adds message-board style group interactions around certain topics, themes, or personalities.

Users can also share location information through Glympse. BBM also supports Dropbox file sharing. There is one-click sharing so that it is easier to send photos, documents, voice messages, and other content.

Many of these features were brought in from the native BlackBerry OS version of BBM and were promised when the app launched on iOS and Android. The update comes at a time when BBM executive leader Andrew Bocking left BlackBerry.
