Beats said that the Beats Music streaming service will be arriving in the next few months in the U.S. Beats president and COO Luke Wood said that the Beats streaming music service will be available on the desktop, iOS, and Android. A dedicated Windows 8 app will be arriving later than that.
Beats bought a music streaming service called MOG for $14 million last year. Beats was working on the service before the buyout took place, but the acquisition helped speed up the project. There is an emphasis on the playlists for the service.
Freelancers were hired to create thousands of playlists based on artists, moods, and activities, similar to the way that Songza became popular. The Beats service will compete against services like Spotify, Rdio, Pandora, iTunes Radio and Deezer. Beats is known for manufacturing headphones, earphones, and speakers.
