Posted Mar 23, 2011

Apple Inc. (NASDASQ:AAPL) has announced today that Bertrand Serlet is stepping down. Serlet is the SVP of Mac Software Engineering. Craig Federighi, Apple’s VP of Software Engineering, will handle Serlet’s responsibilities and report directly to Steve Jobs.

?I?ve worked with Steve for 22 years and have had an incredible time developing products at both NeXT and Apple, but at this point, I want to focus less on products and more on science,? stated Serlet. ?Craig has done a great job managing the Mac OS team for the past two years, Lion is a great release and the transition should be seamless.? Serlet had joined Apple in 1997 and has been credited with the development and creation of Mac OS X. Before joining Apple, Serlet worked at Xerox PARC for 4 years.
