Best Buy is known for being the victim of showrooming. What this means is that people will walk into a Best Buy store, check websites to see if there is a better deal, and then buy electronics online instead. Starting March 3rd, Best Buy will be price matching all local retail competitors along with 19 “major online competitors” in all product categories whenever a customer asks for it. I don’t know any other brick-and-mortar retailer that does this!
?There is no doubt that this new policy ends showrooming for Best Buy customers,? stated Best Buy company spokesman Matt Furman in an interview with Bloomberg. This past holiday rush, Best Buy announced a price-matching initiative and this is considered the permanent version.
Best Buy is also going to change their “Return and Exchange” period to 15 days from the previous 30 days. All of the returns will require a receipt and ID. Best Buy Reward Zone Premier Silver members will retain a 60-day return eligibility.
