Best Buy Starts Shutting Down Stores In Canada Without Telling Employees

Posted Feb 1, 2013

Best Buy Canada is shutting down seven of their stores across the country. The company is also going to shut down eight other future locations. The most shocking part is that employees were not told beforehand.

Employees showed up for their shift yesterday morning, but the doors were closed and security guards told them that they cannot come in. The employees that were told to leave represent around 5% of Best Buy’s Canadian workforce.

Fortunately they will receive severance support and access to employee assistance programs. Best Buy is going through an ongoing restructuring plan to keep themselves profitable for the next few years.
