According to Microsoft’s annual proxy filing with the SEC, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates and soon-to-be-retired CEO Steve Ballmer are looking to be re-elected to the board of directors. This may not sit well with Microsoft shareholders that want to see the company turnaround and drive the stock price up.
Ballmer and Gates would likely still have a lot of influence in Microsoft’s direction by remaining on the board. In August, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said that he would be stepping down within 12 months.
Bill Gates has been on the board of directors since 1981 at Microsoft and is the largest individual shareholder. He owns 4.52% in Microsoft.
Steve Ballmer has been on the board of directors over a decade ago and owns 3.99% of the company. The re-election is expected to happen on November 19th.
