Microsoft chairman Bill Gates interview with Bloomberg TV recently to discuss how he is working with Michael Bloomberg on various philanthropic initiatives. He also reiterated that he is not going to return to the software giant as the head of the company.
Gates did the interview on ?In the Loop with Betty Liu.? Microsoft has been searching for a new CEO since August when Steve Ballmer said that he would be stepping down. Ballmer has been CEO of Microsoft since 2000.
?The board is doing important work right now,? stated Gates in the interview. ?The foundation is the biggest part of my time. I put in part-time work to help as a board member. My full-time work will be the foundation for the rest of my life. I will not change that.?
The Microsoft board is strongly considering Ericsson AB CEO Hans Vestberg, Microsoft cloud head Satya Nadella, and former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop. Last year, Microsoft was talking with Ford Motor Company CEO Alan Mullaly about the position, but he turned it down. Gates and Ballmer hold a combined 8% in stock of Microsoft and both of them are on the board of directors.
