BlackBerry has announced a new smartphone called the BlackBerry 9720.  The 9720 has a 2.8-inch touchscreen and trackpad.  The 9720 also has a 5-megapixel camera with an LED flash and 4x digital zoom.  The 9720 also has 512MB of RAM.  The BlackBerry 9720 is powered by the older BlackBerry 7 OS version 7.1.

It has an updated interface that lets you swipe to unlock the phone or access the camera from the lock screen.  The 9720 also can connect voice calls over WiFi for free (nice!).

The 9720 also lets you listen to local FM stations and has a 1450mAh removable battery to offer up to 7 hours of talk time and 18 days of standby time. To access BBM, there is also a dedicated BBM button.
