BlackBerry has released a statement saying that the BBM apps for Android and iOS has been delayed. An unreleased version of the BBM for Android app was posted online already and it was downloaded by 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours. The unreleased version caused some issues and they attempted to address them throughout the day.
“The interest and enthusiasm we have seen already ? more than 1.1 million active users in the first 8 hours without even launching the official Android app ? is incredible. Consequently, this unreleased version caused issues, which we have attempted to address throughout the day,” said BlackBerry in a statement.
BLackBerry said that they will begin a staggered roll-out of BBM for Android and continue the rollout of BBM for iPhone soon. These issues have not affected the BBM service for BlackBerry.
