BlackBerry is denying a report by TechCrunch that Toronto native and rapper Drake is in talks to be the brand ambassador for the BlackBerry Classic, which is a new phone that will be launching in November. That phone will have BlackBerry’s signature physical trackpad. However, BlackBerry denied that report in a statement sent to MobileSyrup.
?We can confirm that we are not in conversations with Drake?,? said a BlackBerry spokesperson in a blog post.
BlackBerry attempted to have a singer work as a brand ambassador in the past. Alicia Keys was named as the “global creative director” at BlackBerry in 2013. However, Keys and BlackBerry parted ways due to publicity failures. For example, Keys wrote posts on Twitter using an iPhone.
This week, BlackBerry announced the BlackBerry Passport. The Passport is a passport-sized smartphone/tablet (“phablet”) that has been described as the ?the world?s smallest phablet or the world largest phone.?
