BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) announced today that it will integrate the Amazon Appstore into its devices. The Amazon Appstore will be added to the BlackBerry 10.3 software update later this year.
?Making the Amazon Appstore available on BlackBerry 10 devices will help BlackBerry continue to meet two essential needs: greater app availability for our smartphone users and enhanced productivity solutions for enterprises,? stated BlackBerry CEO John Chen. ?We?ve listened to our customers and have taken this important step to deliver on their needs, while executing on our strategy.?
BlackBerry does not have the luxury to attract a broad set of developers to join a separate BlackBerry ecosystem. BlackBerry offered its own Android store as a way to create apps for BlackBerry 10 devices.
