Blaise Agüera y Arcas leaves Microsoft for Google

Blaise Agüera y Arcas is one of Microsoft’s most respected engineers, but he has left for Google. Blaise Agüera y Arcas worked on wearable computing, augmented reality, and natural user interface projects at Microsoft. He also oversaw the Microsoft Bing Maps service development. One of his most recent projects was a new version of Photosynth, a service that you can use for creating 3-D panoramic imagery.

Blaise Agüera y Arcas will be working on machine learning at Google, according to sources with The New York Times. ?He was a great colleague and we wish him the best in his future endeavors,? stated Microsoft spokesman Adam Sohn.

Blaise Agüera y Arcas arrived at Microsoft after his company Seadragon Software was acquired in 2006.
