Blizzard has shut down the Auction House of Diablo III. Blizzard shut down the marketplace that let Diablo III players trade items for in-game currency or liquid cash. Blizzard shut down the service overnight and takes place around one week before the release of Reaper of Souls, which is the first expansion for the game.
Several weeks ago, Blizzard released an update for the game that included a patch called “Loot 2.0,” which made the Auction House useless. The Loot 2.0 update led to players seeing frequent drops of gear that was suited for his or her characters. This gear was previously much easier to find on the Auction House. All of the auctions will expire as normal after the shutdown.
Items will be delivered to the highest bidder or returned to the seller. Reaper of Souls will be released on March 25th.
