Blue Apron is a dinner kit service company that has weekly meals delivered to your door.  The company has raised $5 million in Series B funding and has announced that they are now delivering 100,000 meals per month.

?We create original recipes every week and we have a group of sourcing experts finding the best seasonal fresh food available so you can make restaurant quality meals at home,? stated Blue Apron co-founder and CEO Matt Salzberg.

The Blue Apron weekly supplies includes enough materials to create three meals for two, four, or six people.  Blue Apron also caters to dietary restrictions and preferences, like whether a person is vegetarian.

Blue Apron recently expanded operations to the West Coast and delivers to over 8 states there.  Now about 80% of the U.S. population can order from Blue Apron.  It costs about $9.99 per meal with no subscription fee.

Blue Apron got their name from a French tradition of apprentice chefs that wear blue aprons.  Blue Apron offers educational materials that explains news ingredients.

Blue Apron was founded by Salzberg, chef Matthew Wadiak, and e-commerce expert Ilia Papas.  Blue Apron previously raised $3 million in Series A funding.  The funding will be used to source local suppliers nationwide and for marketing.
