Google acquired BufferBox in November 2012 and now the standalone service is shutting down. Services ship parcels to a BufferBox for a quick, convenient, and secure pick-up.
BufferBox sent an e-mail to members today saying that it is shutting down. The team and technology will be rolled into other Google products services.
Here is what BufferBox wrote in a statement:
At Google, we?re constantly looking for new ways to help people buy their favorite products online faster and easier, and as always, it?s important to evaluate the areas where we focus our efforts. That?s why we?ve made the difficult decision to begin winding down the standalone BufferBox service, instead bringing the learnings, technology and expertise of the team to future Google Shopping products, like Google Shopping Express (currently available in the San Francisco Bay Area)
BufferBox’s warehouses will stop taking in packages on March 31st. BufferBox offered their services to customers in Toronto/Waterloo and around San Francisco. The San Francisco expansion happened last September. Parcel delivery history can be downloaded by BufferBox users for their records.
