A high school senior in California won $20,000 in the form of a scholarship for a single tweet that she wrote. Amanda Russell, 17, was chosen by KFC out of 2,800 tweets that competed for a scholarship. The requirement was that the tweet must be 140 characters and she would get $142 per character. Here’s what the winning tweet was: “Hey Colonel! Your scholarship’s the secret ingredient missing from my recipe for success! Got the grades, drive, just need cash!” Russell had a 3.9 GPA at the Long Beach high school she was attending. [Press Telegram]
