Rumor: China Mobile May Get The iPhone On December 18th

Posted Nov 22, 2013

China Mobile is the world’s largest wireless carrier, but they do not sell iPhones to their customers.  Apple CEO Tim Cook has had discussions with China Mobile’s board in the past and it is believed that they are getting closer to make a deal happen.

The iPhone is considered too expensive for the Chinese consumer market and does not run on China Mobile’s current network.  The Wall Street Journal said that China Mobile is getting close to introducing a new brand for mobile services.

Apple was not able to provide a device that could run on China Mobile’s TD-SCDMA network in the past.  China Mobile is preparing to launch their 4G network and Apple has received approval for a license to operate on that network.  Everything is speculation at this point and things could change.  Apple is believed to be the only major “new brand” that has not launched on China Mobile though.
