China Unicom has announced that they have received orders for over 100,000 iPhone 5 devices on their first day of pre-sales according to Sina Tech. A China Telecom subsidiary of said that they received pre-orders of over 5,000 units.
It took a long time for China to get their hands on the iPhone 5 because it was awaiting regulatory approval from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Apple said last week that the iPhone 5 will be available in China and 50 other countries starting December 14th. The iPhone 5 has been available in 47 countries since September 21st.
