Chris Hadfield, ISS Astronaut, Does A Reddit AMA From Outer Space

Posted Feb 18, 2013

Some of my favorite Ask Me Anything (AMA) interviews that have taken place on Reddit include Stan Lee, Kevin Rose, Psy, Barack Obama, and Bill Gates.  One of the newest Reddit AMAs is an amazing one also.  It is of Chris Hadfield, an astronaut on the International Space Station.  Hadfield did a pre-flight AMA this past December, but the latest AMA was done from outer space.  He logged on from a satellite relay to a server in Houston.

One of the scariest things that Hadfield saw from outer space is:  “I watched a large meteorite burn up between me and Australia, and to think of that hypersonic dumb lump of rock randomly hurtling into us instead sent a shiver up my back.”  His message to kids if they want to become an astronaut is to exercise, eat their greens, do their homework, and do their jobs.  His biggest fear is the launch because of the power and acceleration.  “Once we survive that, it?s just a steady threat of radiation, meteorite impacts, and vehicle system failure like fire or ammonia breakthrough,” said Hadfield.

Hadfield said that Australia looks the coolest from outer space.  The colors and textures in the country is artistic.  The most beautiful place from outer space is the Bahamas.  He said that there are glowing reefs of every shade of blue that exists.  If you want to follow Command Hadfield on Twitter, follow @Cmdr_Hadfield.
