Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) announced that it has acquired cloud platform startup Assemblage. The terms of the deal were undisclosed.
Assemblage is known for making a cloud-based collaboration platform that can be used on a web browser without having to depend on downloads, plugins, or installations.
Assemblage delivers collaboration apps for presentation and screensharing from the cloud. Assemblage users can work together on 40 different file types. Assemblage?s engineers will join Cisco?s Collaboration Technology Group as part of the deal.
Cisco is hoping the Assemblage employees can help make new collaboration products that also integrate with third party cloud apps like Google and Box. Cisco also previously invested in Alchemist Accelerator, which is an incubator where Assemblage participated.
